BitBoard 0.2.1

Automatic updates

  • From now on BitBoard updates itself. When a new version is out, a bar at the top offers to install it; click Update now and BitBoard restarts on the new version a few seconds later.
  • Every update is digitally signed, and BitBoard refuses to install anything that isn't.
  • This is the last version you need to download and install by hand.

Notifications

  • A new bell in the top bar collects everything that needs your attention, with a count of what's unread. Click any item to jump straight to that card.
  • Due dates: cards you're assigned to show up when they're due within 24 hours, and again if they become overdue.
  • @mentions: type @ in a comment and BitBoard suggests people on the board as you type. Whoever you mention gets notified.
  • Assigned to you: you're notified when someone adds you to a card.
  • Reminders: type /remind in a comment, like @Ian Snyder /remind me 60 days or /remind me in 2 hours to call the vendor. The comment reads "⏰ Reminding @Ian Snyder in 60 days (Dec 7)", and the reminder lands in your notifications when the time comes. You can remind other people on the board too.
  • Notifications also pop up as Windows notifications. Turn them off at the bottom of the bell menu.

Board backgrounds

  • Give each board its own background in Board settings → Board: plain, one of eight gradients, any colour you like, or your own image.
  • Images are resized automatically and stored on Snydus Cloud, so everyone on a shared board sees the same background.

Better filtering

  • Filter by a due date range: show cards due between two dates, from a date onward, or up to a date.
  • New Has a due date option, to show every card with a due date.
  • Status (open or complete) is now its own setting, so you can combine it with a due date filter, for example open cards due this week.
  • Long lists of priorities and types now wrap onto new lines instead of scrolling sideways.

BitBoard 0.2.0: first public release

BitBoard is a kanban board for Windows. You organise work in lists and cards, and automations handle the busywork. Sign in once and your boards follow you to every PC.

Boards and lists

  • Create as many boards and lists as you need, and drag cards and lists to reorder them
  • Give a list its own colour, including any custom colour
  • Sort a list by priority, ID, due date, alphabetical, date created or checklist progress, in either direction (Manual keeps your drag order)
  • Search with /, and filter by people, tags, priority, type or due date
  • Light and dark themes, plus an accent colour per board

Cards

  • Description (supports Markdown), start and due dates, checklists and comments, with an activity history on every card
  • Priority tags: No priority, Low, Medium, High
  • Types like [Add], [Fix] and [Update], plus any you create, such as [Bug] or [Request]
  • Tick checklist items straight from the board by clicking a card's checklist badge
  • Right-click a card to rename, duplicate, tag, set priority or type, move, archive or delete it
  • Rename quickly with the pencil on hover, or press F2. Press Delete while hovering to archive a card.

Automations

  • Rules in the form "when this happens, if this is true, then do that", such as when a card is completed, move it to Done and tag it Shipped
  • Triggers include a card being added or moved to a list, completed, tagged, assigned or overdue
  • Ready-made recipes to start from

Reports

  • Turn typed cards into grouped notes (patch notes, a changelog or a ticket summary) and copy them as Markdown

Accounts, sync and sharing

  • Sign in with a free Snydus Cloud account, from the app or at snyduscloud.xyz
  • Boards sync to every PC you sign in on. Changes save in the background, and edits made on two PCs at once are merged.
  • If you go offline, your changes are kept and sync when you reconnect
  • Invite people by email to a board, as Can edit or Can view. They get an email, then accept or decline from their invites in BitBoard. If they don't have an account yet, the invite waits for them.
  • Organizations: create one from your account menu and invite members as Can view, Can edit or Admin. A member's level applies to every board the organization owns, and you can raise it on a single board.
  • Only owners and admins create organization boards and manage members
  • Move a board into an organization, or back to private, from Board settings → Belongs to. BitBoard tells you first if anyone would lose access.
  • Already used BitBoard before accounts? Your boards on this PC can be uploaded to your account in one click.

Good to know

  • Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) only
  • BitBoard isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" the first time. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
  • Forgot your password? Use Forgot your password? on the sign-in screen and we'll email you a reset link.
